Richard Omoko, 65 years old, of Oyitoleyi village said, “Due to overcrowding at our former water source, my child was bitten by my neighbour as they struggled to fetch water. I intervened in the struggle and ended up fighting with my neighbour. This caused a rift in the village, but we reconciled during the meeting for this new water well. Thanks for the new well; it has brought peace in this village.”


Acio Agnes, 40 years old, of Adyang Opiro village said, “In 2019 I left my husband because we were fighting over me coming back late from the water well. When he learned this was because the well water was overcrowded, he had to apologise to my parents before I returned back to his home. This new well has saved me from future conflict with my husband because I will be coming back home in time since it’s providing enough water without any crowding.”


Moses Okello, 15 years old, of Barcik village, who is in primary class seven said, “Last term I did not sit my mid-term examinations because of severe stomach pain. After diagnosing and treatment, I was advised to drink only treated or boiled water which my family cannot afford. Thanks for bringing me this safe water source.”


Sam Okello, 45 years old, of Acoo village said, “I suffered from bilharzia in 2018, which caused fear in this village. We were drinking from a swamp and parents stopped their kids from fetching water from our former water source because of what I went through. This well is a source of hope for this village.”


Evaline Akwero, 42 years old, of Opeta “A” village said, “I had stopped fetching water from the former water source because it was very steep. In 2018, when I was drawing water, I felt dizzy and fell in the pool. Since then, the water for my family was only collected by my husband who had been complaining a lot because he didn’t have time for other activities. Now, I can fetch water from the borehole, which has relieved my husband.”


Walter Omodo, 42 years old, of Agung Village, the chairperson local council one of the village said, “The new well has given me some holiday. I had been attending to conflict and violence at the water source weekly, because women were struggling for water all the time, which led to fights. Ever since the new Well started working, I have not received any cases to handle.”


Lydia Ejang, 25 years old, of Oyima “B” Village said, “Our former water source was overcrowded, and I fought with a fellow woman to get what I needed in 2019 when we were struggling for water. This made me stop fetching from the source, and I had been riding a bicycle for 2 kilometres to another source. I am now fetching water at the new well, which is located near my home.”


Pasca Akao, 31 years old, of Wigweng Village said, “Due to overcrowding at our former water source, my husband had been complaining that I was not doing enough for the garden work. Since the installation of this well, I have been spending longer hours with my husband in the garden. This well has saved my relationship with my husband.”


Jacob Pule, 29 years old, of Ajukilwala Village said, “Our former water source was shared between us and the animals, and it created competition of who to access first. This discouraged most of the community members from living in the village. Now, I feel encouraged living in this village because of the new water source.”


Semmy Atala, 58 years old, of Bar Pii Adwong Village said, “Because of a water shortage in our village, our daughters-in-law were no longer respecting us. I now see a great improvement in the way of living in this village due to the new borehole.”


My child suffered from bilharzia due to our former water source, so we stopped using the water from the source unless it was treated. It has been a burden boiling the water on a daily basis; thanks JF Well Works Africa for your timely intervention,” said Hellen Alum, 55 years old, of Teowak Village.


“I had never taken a month without registering a case of typhoid fever in my family. We had been trying to treat the water since our doctor discouraged us from drinking from the source without treating, but at times we have no money to buy water guard. Thanks JF Well Works Africa, you have brought life in my family,” said Dorcus Tino, 28 years old, of Otangula “B” Village.


“Thanks so much JF Well Works Africa for saving me. I had taken a lot of Metronidazole tablets to treat typhoid fever, but now I am free because of the new borehole,” said Betty Acunga, 52 years old, of Anoto Ocao “B” Village.


“I am suffering from a back pain because of carrying water for 3 kilometres on a daily basis, thanks so much JF Well Works Africa for your rescue,” said Lilly Agoa, 56 years old, of Akwoo Village.


Grace Aciro, 38 years old, of Akoo Village said, “Thanks so much JF Well Works Africa for saving us from drinking rainwater. Our former water source was infested by frogs, so I had resorted to rainwater instead of drinking live worms from our former water source.”


“In 2018, I suffered from bilharzia and people in this village stigmatized me. I contracted from our former water source and the new well will erase my memory of suffering. I had stopped passing near the former water source due to the bad memory,” said Cilbina Atigi, 46 years old, of Atimoning Village.

“I had been spending half of my income to treat typhoid fever in my family due to our contaminated hand-dug well. JF Well Works Africa, you are a saviour to my family,” said Scovia Lawerence, 25 years old, of Orupu village.


Aceng Silveria, 58 years old, of Aweibura village said, “My children suffered from scabies due to our un-protected spring, and I had been spending 40,000 UGX per month for treatment. Your new water well has saved me from spending that money.”


Thanks so much JF Well Works Africa for rescuing our village from insult from the neighbouring village. The people of that village had been calling us “refugees” because we had to take water from their well,” said Florence Ako, 50 years old, of Onyut Centre.


Dorothy Acen, 28 years old, of Ajaka village said, “Typhoid fever has been a disaster in this village; every family suffered from it. The former water source was condemned by the sub-county health inspector as a source of infection for typhoid fever, but since there was no other option, we were still drinking from the same source. This well is our medicine for typhoid fever now.”


Mercy Akello, 13 years old, of Acul-banya village said, “Because our former water source was in another village, it affected my performance in school. I was spending three hours in the morning to fetch water for my family. With the new water well, I hope to improve my grades.”


“My family has been relying on rainwater because rape had been common along the way to the former water source. Now, I can fetch from the borehole safely,” said Immaculate Acana, 19 years old, of Alikmola village.


Grace Ngabirano, 70 years old, of Oyitoley “A” village said, “Ever since I was married in the village 40 years ago, there had never been clean water in my house. This is my first time drinking from a trusted water source and I hope to live longer because I am now safe from water-related diseases.”


Lestina Amongi 54 years old of Barr-Yao Village said, “We never had enough water at our house because at the former water source we couldn’t fetch more than two jerrycans a day because of the struggle involved. Now, I am fetching enough water for the family because of the new well.”


Our former water source, a hand dug well, has been a pain to my family. We spent 70,000 UGX in September 2020 treating typhoid fever. This money was a loan I borrowed from our saving group which gave me a lot of pressure because I failed to repay on time until I sold my cow. The former source had crippled my family development. Thanks so much for the new well, it has rehabilitated my family,” said Jacinta Apio, 51 years old, of Te-eme.


Eunice Akullu, 36 years old, of Alit Village said, “It had been a struggle for me to raise my children in the village because diarrhoea had become a curse in our house. I’ve seen a change now because of the new well.”


Whenever it rained, there was shortage of water in the village since the former water source would become flooded with run-off water so you could only fetch the next day. You have saved us from water scarcity on a rainy days; thanks so much JF Well Works Africa,” said Susan Ebong, 44 years old, of Ocan Oyere Village.


“Our water source was very dangerous because snakes were attacking women of this village at the water source. You had to fetch only from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. because outside those hours you were at risk of a snake attack. We can fetch water anytime with this new well,” said Ketty Amuge, 37 years old, of Aliri Village.


Joyce Aguti, 25 years old, of Owango Dyang Village said, “Our former water source was too close to the main road, and it had been causing accidents. In 2019, a motorcycle lost control and knocked me from the water source. Thanks so much JF Well Works Africa for saving our lives.”


“Access to the former water source has been a problem in my family. Due to the distance, I have been re-using clothes without washing. I used to wash once a month due to the shortage of water,” said Winny Agena, 16 years old, of Bardyel Village.


I have been keeping oral rehydration salt in my house throughout the year because diarrhoea has been very common in my family. The borehole is my saviour,” said Winny Apio, 25 years old, of Acanpii Village.


“Maintaining our former water source had brought conflict in this village. Because it was open, children could play around contaminating it, or whenever it rained it got contaminated. Animals could also access and contaminate the water source. Some family had been pointing fingers at each other that they were the source of contamination. This new well is a peace to this Village,” said Ketty Akello, 38 years old, of Abilonino Village.


“Flagyl tablet has been my weekly food because I have been suffering from diarrhoea and typhoid fever frequently. I was advised to take a dose of Flagyl weekly to protect me from infection, but the new well has saved me from the weekly tablets. I have stopped taking tablets for the last two weeks,” said Grace Abote, 48 years old, of Acan Dyel Village.

Akite Scovia, 28 years old, of Arao village said, “I have been walking for 2 kilometres every day fetching two jerrycans of water. This has given me chest pain; I have been recommended to go for x-ray scanning. Thanks JF Well Works Africa for saving me from further suffering.”


Akello Dorina, 87 years old, of Bar Mogo Village said, “I had been relying on rainwater because my knees are weak; I am unable able to walk for 1.5 kilometres to our un-protected water source. This new well has made me smile because it’s just 200 meters away from my home. Thank you JF Well Works Africa.”


Lucy Awelo, 46 years old, of Arao bung village said, “Our former water source was risky to access in rainy season because you had to cross a swamp to access it. In 2019, I was attacked by a leech while trying to cross the swamp. The coming of this well is a saviour to me.”


Lucy Akullo, 48 years old, of Acungaciki village said, “I have never had enough water in my house until this well was brought here. My life has normalised now.”


Pamela Adongo, 15 years old, of Bargil village said, “Because of the long distance to our water source, I had been reporting to school late and facing late-comers punishment. This water well has saved me from punishment for late-reporting at school.”


Sophia Akello, 63 years old, of Kornermolem village said, “I had been spending 20,000 UGX monthly to stock Flagyl in my house to treat diarrhoea and stomach pain. Since the well was installed, I have stopped buying the drug. This well is a relief for me.”


“I have been suffering from diarrhoea every week and surviving on an herbal medicine in order to treat it. The new borehole has rescued me from taking herbal medicine weekly, which was also a danger to my life,” said Grace Akello, 46 years old, of Kweri-Kweri Village.


“Our water source was also the drinking water source for cows, so we had been competing with cows to get our daily water. At times when there were cows at the water source, I’d give them time to drink before I fetched my own. Thanks so much JF Well Works Africa, for separating us from animals,” said Grace Amunyi, 38 years old, of Anenober “B” village.


“During rainy season, our former water source was risky to access because you had to cross a swamp. Most of the women had resorted to rainwater due to the fear of shaming themselves by pulling up their skirt while crossing the swamp. The new well has restored our dignity,” said Esther Awor, 60 years old, of Adokingei Village.


Jacinta Atim, 68 years old, of Gicem Village said, “I never had enough water in my house since my knees are weak so I could not walk for long distances to access water. I had been relying on a well-wisher who would bring water for me, but the new well is close to her house, so she has started fetching enough water.”


“On a rainy day, it was very risky to access our former water source because the road to the well was slippery. In 2019, I slipped and fell while accessing the water source and dislocated my knee which cost me 250,000 UGX to treat. The new well is my saviour,” said Agness Ajok, 28 years old, of Bardok Oculi Village.


Alcantorina Ogoo, 74 years old, of Kwogwa Village said, “It has been a headache living in the village because I had been hiring a bicycle every day to fetch water. I am now safe from the struggle to hire a bicycle to fetch water with the new well close. Thanks so much JF Well Works Africa.”


Jacinto Auma, 44 years old, of Owaloipiny Village said, “The new well has saved our lives. An alligator had been hurting kids every month at our former water source which was becoming a great risk to our lives. Thanks so much JF Well Works Africa for the new water well.”


Engom Gloria, 15 years old, of Otuta Village said, “I have been leaving from school whenever my mother is sick. Because our former water source was 2 kilometres away, by the time I’d finish fetching water it was already 10:00 a.m. which wouldn’t allow me to report to school, and the abscondment affected my results. Because of the new well, I will not abscond anymore because the borehole is so close to our home even my father can fetch.”


“Our former water source was in another village, and it has been causing a lot of insecurity to our children. In 2019, a girl was raped on her way back from the well. Thanks so much for giving us a well; our children will now be safe from criminals,” said Evaline Angwec, 38 years old, of Atilem Village.


Betty Atala, 48 years old, of Abwal Village said, “I had been walking with a load of 30 litres of water for 2 kilometres every day. Because I had been accessing water from another village, I suffered from a chest pain, so I stopped fetching water because of chest complications. Now I am fetching water again because the new well is only 100 meters from my house.”


Agness Adongo, 38 years old, of Agoma Village said, “With our former water source, the colour turned brown when stored overnight so it was only possible to drink it the same day. The new well has improved lives in my family because it can be stored.”
